College has a way of preparing you with lessons that you will use for the rest of your life! A big lesson I am learning while here is the importance of hospitality. That has blessed my socks off while here and has given me the biggest boost to press on. Those of you around the globe who know a college student who is far from home, invite them over and give them a long hug, and talk to them. It will mean a lot!
A couple days ago my boss/friend invited me over to make and bake cookies at her house. It was so good! She took me in to her little, neatly decorated home and made me feel so comfortable. We enjoyed good conversation, jokes, and laughter at our mistakes and humor. We watched an episode of her favorite T.V. show. On the other hand, we talked about the life lessons the Lord has taught us through this year and what things we have learned or have been really good. It was so good and refreshing, so good to be in a house, fun to be in a kitchen again, fun to talk to one who is a little older and has more experience on life but is where I am excited to one day be. She was very real and open with me. The age gap wasn't an issue and honestly, my best friendships have been with those older than me and i love that. It is during this time in college that i have been called to invest in others my age and the Lord has blessed me with mature believers my age. It is so encouraging to be able to have one who is in the same area of life as me. Most of my friends are now married with a baby on the way (literally! I am missing a little girl coming into the world today. SO HARD!) and I am so excited for their little ones to come into the world so i can spoil them and love on them but it is harder to relate now that there is a husband and child in the picture. My friend took me into her house, related with me while also sharing her life now with her struggles and joys and it was beautiful and made me so happy, blessed, and trusted.
Hospitality and fellowship are so important. God created it for a reason and it got me excited to have my own home where I can invite others in, love on them and share in the Lord's blessings. That isn't the point though. How can you be hospitable with what you have now? For me, it might be opening my door and inviting people in to share with what the Lord has blessed me with whatever that may be, even little pieces of chocolate :) For those of you who do not have much, don't let that scare you! The Lord has blessed you with that and it can be used to make a guest feel so special and it can bless them lots. It isn't about what you have but about what you do. How are ways that you can be hospitable this week? Will you carry it out?

Such good encouragement, Sis! Thank you. I need to be reminded about this and how important it is. I can totally relate to how special it is when others invite you over or just treat you kindly as a college student! Such a kind thing. :) I love you!
