Day 8 Listening for His voice

So I have majorly failed this whole blogging every day in October thing. Let’s just say I had a friend get married this last weekend which was a complete blast but took so much time and then I skyped the 3 stooges yesterday and have been trying to catch up on sleep so I went straight to bed.

Anyways. I had such a wonderful weekend with my sister being home and one thing that was mentioned was how we can pray but it is hard to listen. How are we supposed to listen? I think we can get in our head that it is a one way deal but then that doesn’t encourage us to pray. I heard someone once say to just stop and listen for awhile after you are done praying. I’ve tried that but my mind doesn’t turn off and then if I think of something I wonder if it was God or not but usually lean towards the not. I feel like hearing comes through unexpected ways but in most cases it is through people who don’t know what they said that touched you or was an answer. I believe God still speaks today and I want to be open to it. I want to hear it.

Have you ever heard the Lord speaking to you? I don’t mean a clear loud voice because I don’t believe He normally speaks that way.

1 Kings 19:11-12 “And he said, “Go out and stand on the mount before the Lord.” And behold, the Lord passed by, and a great and strong wind tore the mountains and broke in pieces the rocks before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind. And after the wind an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake. And after the earthquake a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire the sound of a low whisper.”

Lord,
Please teach me how to pray and then wait in expectation for an answer from You. I believe You still speak, You are present, and You long for a relationship with me . . . a relationship made up of 2 people. Thank you for Your love, for Your Son, for the cross.
I love you Father.
Amen

(I would love to hear comments/response if you have time)
